Spring Favorites!

Hi friends, happy Monday, and if you are at my university – blessed finals week (internal screaming) ❤︎!

Since it is finals week and I personally have a ton of things to do and write that are not makeup related – I thought I would do a super casual, quick blog post today just chatting about products I’ve discovered since Spring has begone and have been loving lately.

Obviously big youtubers get to do monthly favorites because they get to test out SO much stuff – and even though I am a shopaholic, I don’t try new products even close to that level, but here is just some stuff that I really love and want to talk about with you!

First, some Elf products:

elfeyecream

Elf Illuminating Eye Cream ($10)

I am a huge advocating of moisturizing and I basically harass everyone in my life to invest in a good, skin type appropiate moisturizer because it will seriously change your makeup game. Your under eyes are no exception, and I am loving this Elf eye cream. While I don’t think it brightens or illuminates, it REALLY hydrates. You know that feeling when your skin is super dry and you finally put on lotion or something and it feels like your skin is thanking you? That is how this eye cream makes my under eyes feel – I had no idea how dry that area of my face was until I started using this in the morning, and it really preps the area nicely for concealer and especially for baking (if you’re into that!).

elfprimer

Elf Mineral Infused Face Primer (clear) ($6)

I literally have not used any other primer since I found this one. It feels SO nice going on the skin, a little goes such a long way, and my makeup will stay glued to my face all day when I use this, even through sweaty 12 hour humid school days. I’ve used it with lots of different foundations and it works the same every time – highly, HIGHLY recommend, it beats the crap out of my expensive primers and I plan on purchasing backups real soon.

elfbrush

Elf Powder Brush ($4)

Speaking of things that beat out my more expensive products – I don’t know if it is the shape or size or whatever is is that the bristles are made out of, but this brush has change my foundation application game forever and I have been refusing to use any other brush lately. It is so big that it applies makeup quickly, and it smooths makeup really nicely over pores. I’ve tried it with multiple different foundations and it is seamless application every time – actual holy grail status.

Speaking of makeup brushes….

sephorabrush

Sephora Collection PRO Featherweight Powder Brush #91 ($40)

I am going to be honest, I never would have bought this brush for myself because I think $40 bucks on one brush is a little ridiculous, but my brother actually got this for me for my birthday (he told me to pick out the one thing in Sephora I would never get normally, and this was it). I LOVE this brush, when I saw it in the store I picked it up and wouldn’t put it down and I basically would not stop petting it. It is so soft but also super dense so it sort-of pushes powder into the skin instead of dusting it over top, so I really feel like my foundation is being set when I use this. I love, love, LOVE it so much and it is my most cherished brush because it was such a nice, thoughtful gift (especially coming from a big brother who doesn’t know crap about makeup!)

morphebrush

Morphe Y12 Pro Flat Contour Brush ($7.99)

I am incredibly late to the nose contouring game, but now I feel weird if I don’t contour my nose and this brush makes it super easy. I love the entire gilded collection from Morphe, but this brush is the perfect size for the sides of the nose and it’s super soft and precise.

Also, speaking of things I am discovering later than the rest of the makeup word:

champagnehighlights

Products Shown:
Makeup Revolution Blushing Hearts Highlighter (Goddess of Faith) ($7)
Urban Decay 8 Hour Powder Highlighter (Sin) ($26)
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed (Moonstone) ($38)
Smashbox Spotlight Palette (Pearl) ($35)
Urban Decay Jean-Michel Basquiat Gallery Blush Palette ($34)
Elf Baked Highlighter (Moonlight Pearls) ($4)

I have discovered champagne colored highlighters, finally. I think when highlighting first became a huge thing gold highlighters were the “it” product, but they were too deep for my ghostly pale complexion. Fast forward to now, I have acquired a bunch of light gold, champagne colored highlighters that work for my skin tone and I am obsessed. My favorite way to apply is either to pick up product with a brush (like the Y14 Pro Detail Highlight Brush) then spray the brush with setting spray, OR apply setting spray to my whole face, applying a dry highlighter while my face is still a little damp, then spray again. Heck yeah. Also if you apply your highlighter in small, circular motions it will blend more seamlessly into your blush.

NGglowkit

Anastasia Beverly Hills Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit ($40)

One more highlighting product for you: this palette is the highlighter winner. This is the most intense set of highlighters ever assembled ever (obviously I am being dramatic, but they are awesome). What I also love about this palette is that it has that white shade (Forever Lit), so I can mix that with the other, deeper shades to get colors light enough to be flattering on me. There is a reason why this palette is constantly sold out, it is SO good, and I think it can work on almost any skin tone.

Other trendy, sparkly thing:

tarteMBIY

Tarte Make Believe In Yourself: Eye & Cheek Palette ($40)

I unapologetically bought this with my birthday money the second it was available for purchasing (along with the brush set) and I honestly love it way more than I thought I would. I have a lot of palettes similar to this consisting of all glitter shadows, but I keep reaching for this one specifically over and over again. Using this with the Elf glitter primer and a flat packing brush, these shadows will stay put ALL day, and they are also really nice to layer over other shadows or even lipsticks (the highlighter in the middle is great too!). I know the unicorn thing has become obnoxious and the Star Bucks drinks were gross blah blah blah, but I really like this trend and I am completely for bright, sparkly, colorful makeup.

And finally – one last glitter bomb product:

limecrime

Lime Crime Diamond Crusher Lip Toppers ($18)

Not going to lie, I bought a few of these shades a while ago just so I would qualify for free shipping on the Lime Crime website, but I am smitten. Layering these over lip liners has changed my life. Doing a neutral eye with a BOLD, glittery lip is a new go-to look for me (quite the change from my bright smoky eye + winged liner every day no matter what), and I love it! I will probably grab a couple more shades eventually, especially since I am waiting for their new highlighter palette to drop (I know I have enough highlighters, I’m sorry!), but every time I wear a Diamond Crusher random people will stop me and compliment me or ask why I’m wearing, so I think that is a good sign! Bonus – Lime Crime offers a student discount!

Anyway! I hope you don’t mind that I just did a quick little casual post today. I would like to do more seasonal favorites in the future, I think it will be interesting to see what I’m loving in the summer once I’m back to work and am sweating to death on the beach every day.

If you have any ideas for posts you’d like to see in the future, please let me know! Also if you haven’t already, please subscribe to my blog if you are a wordpress user, or sign up for email alerts. Also, check out my instagram (spookylipsandfathips) since that is where I show my various makeup looks and what products I am buying or loving. Thank you guys for the love and support, and have a great week!
